About Erfurt
Erfurt is famous for being the green city in the heart of Germany and has recently become recognised as one of the most important and beautiful cities in Europe. It is a city with a rich culture and a long history extending over 1260 years. A great variety of restaurants and cafés enliven the historical and cultural city centre. The monumental ensemble of cathedral and Serveri church with the Gloriosa bell, over 500 years old, world famous and sonorous, the rich patricians houses and charming half-timbered buildings and the many churches which gave the city the epithet "the Thuringian Rome", make Erfurt a picture book of German history. The Krämerbrücke (Merchants Bridge) is unique in Europe. It is 120 m long with inhabited buildings from one end to the other.
As the economic, intellectual, cultural and political centre of Thuringia Erfurt attracted important figures such as Luther, Adam Ries, Goethe, Schiller,Bach, Tzar Alexander and Napoleon.
The metropolis of Thuringia offers excellent facilities for national and international congresses and conferences, as well as trade fairs and exhibitions. The Erfurt Trade Fair as well as the Kaisersaal ( culture and conference centre built in 1715) are in easy reach from the Radisson Blu.
